Margo Baker was born on August 27, 1952, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Robert Earl Cogan and Helen Frances Tipton Huffman, who survives. She had two sisters, Mindy Clary and Marla Cogan. She moved to North Carolina in 1988, where she met her husband, Stuart, who is also known as Danny Baker or Unknown Hinson, a country rock singer and voice actor for the animated series Squidbillies.

Margo Baker was a talented and versatile entertainment producer, who worked on various projects such as music videos, documentaries, commercials, and live shows. She was the executive producer of the documentary Unknown Hinson: The King of Country Western Troubadours, which won the Best Documentary Award at the 2006 New York International Independent Film and Video Festival.
