Jacqueline Holt was born on June 15, 1948, in Florence, Alabama, to the late John and Mary Smith. She grew up in a large and close-knit family, with four brothers and three sisters. She attended Florence High School, where she met her future husband, Robert Holt. They married on August 16, 1968, and had three children: John, Mary, and Robert Jr.

Jacqueline Holt was a homemaker who dedicated her life to raising her children and supporting her husband. She was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Florence, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and participated in various ministries and outreach programs. She had a strong faith in God and a compassionate heart for others, especially the less fortunate and the elderly. She volunteered at the local food bank, nursing home, and hospice, and was always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to anyone in need.

Jacqueline Holt loved nature and enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, and hiking. She had a green thumb and a beautiful flower garden that she tended with care. She also loved cooking and baking, and was famous for her pies, cakes, and casseroles. She often hosted family gatherings and holiday celebrations, and welcomed everyone with a warm smile and a hug. She cherished every moment spent with her family and friends, and was especially proud of her nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, whom she spoiled with love and attention.

A Sudden Illness and a Brave Battle

Jacqueline Holt was diagnosed with dementia in 2020, and gradually lost her memory and cognitive abilities. She was cared for by her husband and children, who never left her side and did everything they could to make her comfortable and happy. She also received support from her church and community, who prayed for her and visited her regularly.

On Monday, December 5, 2022, Jacqueline Holt suffered a stroke and was rushed to the hospital. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 74 years old.

Jacqueline Holt is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Holt; her children, John Holt (Lisa), Mary Jones (Mark), and Robert Holt Jr. (Amy); her grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, James, Jacob, Joshua, Jonathan, Julie, Jason, and Jenna; her great-grandchildren, Lily and Lucas; her brothers, James Smith (Sue), John Smith (Mary), Joe Smith (Ann), and Jerry Smith (Linda); her sisters, Jane Jones (Tom), Judy Wilson (Bill), and Joyce Davis (Bob); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Smith.

Jacqueline Holt will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who lived a life of love and faith. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in their hearts and memories.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Florence, with Pastor John Doe officiating. Burial will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Colbert Memorial Chapel.
